Why is it hot?
Mint Club has had a serious facelift! With a light up disco panel installed on the ceiling; remodelled seating, DJ booth and toilets (advance warning: unisex); plus a spanking new Funktion One sound system. Tip top surroundings coupled with forward thinking, innovative guest DJ bookings make this a seriously good party for those who are serious about partying. Having taken the time to establish itself as one of the major Saturday club nights in Leeds, regardless of how famous the guest DJ is, Asylum will be a busy night. And as is often the case, the excellent resident DJs always do the trick and get the dance floor rocking.
What to wear?
A pleasing mixture of dressed up lovelies, the achingly hip and a fair amount of guys and girls who came to dance and dressed accordingly populate the crowd.
What's the music like?
Quality underground house, interspersed with the odd hands in the air disco moment. The main ethos behind the night's music policy is 'if it sounds good, play it'. Since returning to Mint, Asylum have booked an eclectic range of DJs from Theo Parrish to DC10's Circoloco residents. Don't expect very many opportunities to sing along.
What's the vibe?
A clubber's paradise, both Asylum and its venue are geared towards those who plan on spending all night dancing under the disco lights.
When should you rock up?
Fourth Saturday of every month.
Depending on the guest DJs, it is advisable to turn up before midnight, doors open at 10pm.
Entry fee?
£12 adv/ £10 NUS
