It was time for the dip-dye to go and I needed a serious hair boost and freshen-up on my Rapunzel length,
I naturally gravitated towards Taylor Taylor on Commercial Street- raved about by everyone I know, and the best in town apparently, so I booked in with the lovely Jenny; setting the task of working magic on my uber long locks.
Taylor Taylor is worth visiting just for the decor alone, mismatched vintage dressing tables, decorative chairs and chez lounges elaborate wallpaper, plus the all-gold wash room looks like an Ancient Egyptian ritual chamber- love.
Cocktails are also definitely on the cards, keeping you hydrated and entertained by a menu dotted with the most delicious recipes; designed by nearby sushi masters and Shoreditch legends Loungelover.
The playlist was particularly good and changed throughout the different rooms, Alt-J upstairs to a softer but still cool buzz downstairs in the chamber.
The consultation went something like this,
“Well I’ve had a dip-dye and want to get rid, maybe some highlights? But I’m not sure... I quite liked being copper before…?”
and so with my indecision combined with Taylor Taylor’s expertise and a magical colour board of dreams, I was soon being painted with a red to rival Florence.
5 hours, 4 cocktails and a cut and a blow-dry later, I was officially a redhead! The cut is fantastic (they really know hair here) and the colour is my favourite, so vibrant and glossy.
Having not been to the hairdressers in years and not letting anyone with scissors within touching distance of my prize, I was, as you can imagine, a little scared (petrified in fact) that my USP would be tarnished in some way, but the reality of it is that I now trust Taylor Taylor with my hair’s life and will be returning again for sure.
