Why is it hot?
My one and only visit so far to Bar Music Hall was a top night. The drinks, food, DJs and live music were definitely highlights.
The great thing about this place is that one side is available for eating and drinking and the other side is a stage with a dance floor. When we arrived, a DJ was playing some funky mixes and after a while some live acts took to the stage. We were then able to get up from our comfy seats and go over and boogy to the music and we stayed there when the DJ came on again.
The bar (large, fancy and chrome) sits in the middle of a wide, open-plan-type space serving all sorts of interesting beers, including fruit beers such as cherry (Kriek), of which I didn't have a chance to try because the cocktails were too addictive. My favourites included (sorry can't remember the names after so many) one based on passionfruit and one with pureed cherries and Disaronno among other things in it that was out of this world.
The bar food we ordered to line our stomachs was excellent. I ordered a veggie burger and chips which was delish, especially the chips (hand-cut). My friends ordered several sharing dishes of which I tasted including salt and pepper squid and hummus - all really good.
What's the music like?Funky and beat-based on a Friday night.
What to wear?
Some people came as Batman and Wonderwoman (also saw a Popeye and Olive - great outfits!) but a pair of trendy jeans and a nice top will suffice.
Drink prices?
Cocktails were around 6-7 pounds and standard drinks and beers around 3-4 pounds.
What's the vibe (singles, marrieds, suits)?
This place is lively and happenin' full of young, energetic, unlikely-to-be-married types dancing around.
When should you rock up?
I suggest before 9pm because it appears a door policy is employed after this time.
