We dined on the first floor restaurant which has an intimate dining area that overlooks the glazed courtyard. Seasonal mains are made from ingredients straight from Sicily and include the venues classic, Tagliolini Neri with Octopus and squid ink pasta, and the Caponata, a Sicilian Antipasti of Aubergines, Green Olives, Onions, Capers, Celery with sweet and sour Tomatoes, from which the restaurant gets its name. We tried the Sautéed squid with a Treviso radicchio, lemon zest & olive salad (£8) and Prosciutto, fresh figs & Marsala aromatic vinegar (£7.50) both of which were delish...For mains I had Risotto with Nero dAvola & Caciocavallo (£12) which was well flavoured with a good balance of ingredients., while my girlfriend had Roast Cod With sautéed broccoli & lemon infused extra virgin olive oil (£14) delicious and punchy! Desserts are a highlight at Caponata the menu is extensive and a must try is the delicious range of homemade gelati and fresh fruit sorbeti. There's a good selection of wines, spirits and beers available and the house white wine is smooth and buttery and works well with both fish dishes. After the meal you can enjoy one of the many digestifs available, including zesty limoncello or smooth grappa. Wine starts from around £16 for a bottle
