Haz Restaurant

City Spy London Haz Restaurant

Why is it hot?

Nestled just in front of the gherkin between Aldgate and Liverpool Street, the tantalising smell of the Haz grill lures you in from the pavement.

The polished wood and and glass interior feels very minimalistic until your table is covered in lots of little dishes full of tasty treats.

With several set menus and a great choice of both meaty and vegetarian dishes you can find something to suit even the fussiest of eaters with traditional meze items such as dolma, hummus and hallumi and the sucuk izgara, slices of spicy garlic sausage are utterly divine.

Best Dish?

The kuzu shish is the most tender suculent lamb I have ever tasted, but the Iskender- a mixed grill served with pitta bread soaked in yoghurt and a rich tomato sauce- comes very highly recommended too.

What to Wear?

As most people come here straight from work you'll probably stick out less in a skirt and heels than jeans and trainers

Average Price of a meal for two?

About £45 with wine

Ambience?

The suits from the city pack the place out on weeknights making it a great place to network or socialise after work but is spookily quiet on weekends for a less rushed meal.

Dates or mates?

The meze menu makes this an ideal place to go with friends or family for a relaxed weekend meal
