Away from the hustle and bustle of the main, Westfield shopping centre situated on the Southern Terrace restaurants The Bull (the first pub in Westfield and part of the Gernimo Inns family) offers a chance to relax in a lovely collectic setting with a wonderful mix and match of furnishing ranging from chunky wooden benches and tables to chintzy sofas.
We lunched on a busy Saturday afternoon and started with Chicken Liver Pate served with fresh cut brown bread and home made apple and raison chutney (£5.95) followed by lunchtime portions of fisherman's pie with a cheesy mash £10). Torn between the beer battered cod and chips and deciding on the crisp ham hock hash with duck egg (£9.50) we were delighted to find HP brown sauce on the plate!!
The food was delicious and offered a chance to try something out of the norm. The menu is varied and offers seasonal soups, daily specials, open sandwiches, fresh fish dishes and roasts on a Sunday and an extensive wine list. Bar snacks also available including jars of crackling, scotch eggs and pork pies.
The staff were friendly and knowledgable, although the service was a little slow (or perhaps we were just in a hurry to hit the shops again) we would definitely re visit The Bull just to try the fish and chips!
