Chocolate Hair and Beauty

chocolate hair and beauty

Why is it hot?

Chocolate Hair and Beauty isn't a huge salon, but it is pretty and cute and the chocolate theme makes it worth a visit, as well as the 20% off your first hair cut/colour. I decided to take up this offer and wasn't disappointed with the result.

When I visited, a senior stylist, Louise, discussed my hair desires with me and suggested possibilities before I chose one. I had a semi permanent colour applied and a layered cut. I also had a gloss applied. I was very happy with the result. My colour matched perfectly with what I had had previously.

The salon is a little different inside to the usual. Instead of clinical white or trendy colours the interior, in keeping with chocolate feel, is earthy - creams and browns. Old-style lamps and lampshades are dotted around the space instead of lots of overhead lighting and the side tables hold books on feng shui and other alternative-type subjects - not a Grazia or Heat in sight. I actually thought this made a pleasant change since this environment was very calming - kind of like the lounge of a house. I also indulged in a head and neck stress-relieving shoulder treatment while I was there - at only 15 pounds, this was well worth it.

There are also beauty rooms attached to the main hair salon where beauty treatments take place for what appears to be (looking at the price list) reasonable price.

Best treatment?

I thought the head and neck treatment was pretty good. They also have a ‘Bain au chocolate' (chocolate hair mask) that I might try next time I visit.

Recommended stylist/technician/therapist?

Louise was nice and did a good job.

Treatment price?

I paid about 95 pounds all up - that was with the 20% discount and at the senior stylist rate.

Best part?

The 20% first-timer discount. Any sort of offer is really helpful in the current economic climate.

Worst part?

Probably the size (small) but other aspects make up for this.
