What is it?
A traditional style Sir John Fitzgerald pub in the heart of Newcastle.
Why is it hot?
Located down an old cobbled side street in the city centre, Bacchus is a traditional pub and is completely different to the usual cluster of bars you'd find around central station and the quayside.
What's the vibe?
Very relaxed and casual, definitely not the place for a group of rowdy mates on a girls night out. Bacchus tends to attract the pre-theatre, post-shopping crowd because of its central location and pub feel. It's also perfect for a low key drink before a meal with your boyfriend where you're less likely to be surrounded by the singles crowd out for a big night!
Every so often they celebrate real ales and traditional food and put on special menu's at various times throughout the year with interesting combinations to try. Several of the meals are cooked with the ales being served so you can take part even if you're not an ale fan and prefer your Peroni or Amstel instead!
Bar food is served but the menu is quite limited and only on offer during the day, until 3pm so no good if you're shopping trip's built up your appetite!
