Why is it hot?
Royal Vintage truly is a vintage shop, albeit a tiny one! Located just off Pilgrim Street on the edge on the city centre, you're not likely to find it unless you know you're way around and that's just what you want from a vintage shop, not one that's a popular as Primark selling clothes worn by the masses. Instead you're guaranteed to find one-off pieces including leather, ladies boots, dresses and accessories, not to mention the customised range of denim and cotton skirts which are recycled from vintage pieces.
Like any vintage shop, they're not trying to attract designer queens like Victoria Beckham or Newcastle's own very Cheryl Cole, which is why the outside looks as vintage as the clothing! Instead, this is the kind of place you'd expect to find vintage followers of fashion like Katy Perry and Nicole Richie - you know, should they happen to be in the area!
Although they advertise themselves as being open every Monday to Saturday from 11am to 5:30pm, I've been passed a couple of times when that hasn't been the case. Admittedly this could be because it's such a small, independent shop where the owner is probably the only person that works there and has the luxury of 'shutting up shop' in the middle of the day if they need to - not something you'll find Sir Phillip Green of Topshop agreeing to!
