An insight into The Sugababes new style
So, yes, the Sugababes have had their fair share of bad press of late - the break-up, the new girl and Amelle's breakdown drama to name but a few stories. Well, drama over. In the personal stakes that is. With the launch of their new single, The Sugababes - in their 4th line-up - have turned to dramatic fashion changes to carry them through with the help of their new stylist Alison Elwin. We managed to pin down the ever-busy mega stylist to ask her some questions about where the girls' style influence is coming from and dressing for your shape.
Alison's influence for these pop princess' style came from the 80's and 90's "I looked at the late 80's and early 90's super models and it got me thinking how the most basic white t-shirt to have tightest body con dress can be as sexy as each other if worn correctly. To me less is more."
So, you can expect the girls to be less girl bandy and more individual. As the girls are all different shapes and sizes Alison has moved them away from the uniform look and taught them to dress for themselves and not to be afraid to experiment and try new labels. "Amelle is loving Hannah Marshall who has a great way of mixing fabrics leather and chiffon to make the perfect dress. She is also enjoying the chunky knits from Claire Tough sold at The Convience Store and has some amazing Ailia pieces from Rellik. Heidi loves Yong and I have just introduced her to a designer Marjan Perjoski at Kokon To Zai who has done some great lace pieces Jade has fallen in love with a body con zip front piece by Millie Cockton (Euphemia) sold at Digitaria. Also, La Petite Salope is the perfect place for party dresses that look great on everyone."
Obviously we know these girls as high street junkies and, fret not, they haven't gone all high fashion on us. "Like everyone, the girls are into mixing high street with designer pieces. One of Amelle favourite leather jackets is from Asos.com and Jade looks incredible in a Primark jumpsuit that her sister gave her. She wears it with her Givenchy sandals and a vintage belt to give it her own little twist."
As we know, fashion is supposed to be fun and music and fashion are fusing together more than ever. "Lady Gaga has brought fun and drama back into pop music and everyone step up their game". So, expect the game upped and keep an eye out for these fashion queens.
The bands new single About a girl was out on Monday 9th November
