No London Fashion Week tickets? No Problem!

Just because you don't work in fashion doesn't mean you can't get involved in London Fashion week - there are loads of events going on that you can be a part of. Take a look at COMPANY's guide to making the most of London Fashion Week....

London Fashion Week Live Streaming

Okay, so you might not have any tickets, but you can still go to Somerset House to wach the shows. How? This year a huge LED screen has been erected in the courtyard of Somerset House which will stream all the shows live - it's the next best thing to actually being there - and you'll have a view as good as the front row! You can also watch the live stream online here.

Hang out at the May Fair hotel

The May Fair Hotel is the official hotel for London Fashion week, so go there for a drink to gawp and all the fashion editors from all over the world who have flown in to see the best in British fashion talent. They have created a spa treatment especially for the occasion - a full body wrap - and then afterwards you can have a cocktail in the bar - what's not to love?

St Martin’s Courtyard and YKK present ‘The Future of Fashion’ exhibition

London’s newest shopping and fashion destination, St Martin’s Courtyard in Covent Garden is hosting a unique exhibition.

Taking place during London Fashion Week, the exhibition features a centrepiece sculpture by Kei Kagami - a towering floating gown created from luminous YKK zippers that glow in the dark and is lit from within. Surrounding the sculpture will be fashion and accessory pieces designed by some of London’s most talented individuals, specially selected by prestigious fashion colleges and organisations; Central Saint Martin’s, International Talent Support, London College of Fashion, Royal College of Art and Vauxhall Fashion Scout.

The aim of the exhibition is to highlight the important role London plays on the world stage as a centre for the promotion and development of the next generation of young fashion and accessories designers.

Come and glimpse at the future of the fashion industry…

The exhibition runs from 17th February to 10th March 2011. Admission free.
Address: 21 Slingsby Place, St Martin’s Courtyard (off Long Acre). Nearest tube: Covent Garden/Leicester Square. Full details at http://www.stmartinscourtyard.co.uk/

The Art of Fashion

A special exhibition of illustrations and prints at the pop-up concept store, FashionCapital in Portman Village, W1, will bring fashion and art together this February, and COMPANY recommends you get down there!

The London Fashion Week exhibition, Art of Fashion, will see original pieces from illustrators, photographers and graphic artists, each depicting the lines, styles and inspirations of fashion. Some of the pieces in the Art of Fashion collection were the starting sketches and drawings that inspired fashion lines that later hit the catwalk.

The exhibition looks at the world of fashion as the art form it often is, and brings the designers, photographers and creative professionals within the world of fashion together under one roof.

FashionCapital is a unique concept store in Portman Village that showcases the very best of British fashion design including the likes of Emma Cook, Goat, Jean-Pierre Braganza and PPQ - the impressive list goes on. The boutique not only houses key designers from the London catwalks but up and coming talent too – a rare chance to see so many British designers and London Fashion Week names selling side by side.

The Art of Fashion exhibition will run throughout London Fashion Week.

The Art of Fashion, 16-23 February at FashionCapital, 2 Seymour Place, London W1. Telephone: 0207 7248430 or visit http://www.fashioncapital.co.uk/
