With the overall winner being announced at Stockholm Fashion Week on the 29th January (Company.co.uk will be there, so watch this space!), we are thrilled that Central Saint Martins fashion student Maia Bergman has been named as the British hopeful in the second annual H&M Design Award shortlist.
With only eight finalists selected from 19 fashion academies in eight European countries, we are so excited the Maia's clean, simple and beautiful designs have made it through to the last stage.
All the finalists are in with a chance to watch their design career sky-rocket with an in-store collobration with H&M and a catwalk show at Stockholm fashion week (make sure follow Company on Twitter for live updates from the show) not to mention a cash prize of 50,000 (£41,400)! The judging panel, including designer Jonathan Saunders, journalist Tim Blanks, stylist Leith Clark and blogger Hanneli Mustaparta, along with H&M head of design Ann-Sofie Johansson and creative advisor Margareta Van Den Bosch decided on Maia as they loved her 'Versace supermodels"and 'Stephen Sprouse's ludic, free-style' inspired collection.
Interestingly, Maia wanted the simple, modern collection of 'A line dresses and the T-shirt tops aim to be "one size fits all" ' - we've got everything crossed for her to win first prize at Stockholm fashion week - and we'll tell you FIRST!
