The looks I’ll be working this season? Make up wise I’ll be wearing loads of glitter, might be a bit young for me but I don’t care! Also I’m loving all over eye shadow and clothing wise, Christmas dressing up in a more glam manner and over the top – loads of glitz, floor length and crushed velvet – you can really pull out all the stops at Christmas!
For red carpet events I often do my own make up but for TV you kindof need someone to do it for you as people can see everything! My make up artist JJ did an amazing glitzy eye. When I did kid’s TV I was dressed up in all sorts of things that I hated, but these days, I know my own face and style and what suits me, so if someone did a look I didn’t like I would probably ask them to change it. -

For Christmas, go OTT definitely – if you can’t go mad with your beauty look during festival season or at Christmas, what’s the point? Go for it!
If I only had 5 minutes to get ready I would panic! My outfit would take me the longest to pick as I change about 8,000 times! If I don’t have much time for make up I do powder, mascara and red lipstick – its so quick so you can’t bodge it up. No eyeliner to fuss around with, just do it and go – easy!
I have had some beauty disasters though - there’s been so many over the years! False eyelashes half flapping off during the night, lipstick on teeth on TV, you name it. I’ve also had so many hair horrors – I’ve had my hair coloured the worst colours, cut in the worst cuts, black with just white parting at the front. My hair was really long and I cut it all off to look like the John Frieda twins, all shaggy and short but I looked like Rod Stewart - it was a mullet! But hopefully I’ve learned from all my mistakes now… -

Oh my god, I’ve got so many tips for hiding a hangover! Always a good under eye concealer - I’ve just bought, Givenchy Mister Light – also I always whack on a bright red or pink lip and instantly feel way better about everything - that’s my key tip!
Even if I’m paralytic after a night out I’ll go into the bathroom and do my routine – cleanse with a make up remover or face, tone with Murad, moisturise - and then exfoliate every couple of days and try and get a facial in when I can which isn’t often as I’m so busy! It’s important – you only get one face and one set of skin so look after it! I don’t wear any foundation except when I’m on TV. During the day I just wear translucent loose powder and a bit of concealer under my eyes as I’m getting older. I wear a bit of blusher, bronzer, lipstick and mascara – but no foundation! -

The most amazing tip from a make up artist though is how to keep bold lipstick all night – apply one coat, get a piece of tissue which is pulled apart to just one ply, then blot loose powder on top of the tissue, take that off and apply one more coat of lipstick and it will last all night – it’s amazing and a really good tip!
Skincare wise, I use a lot of Dr Murad products with SPF- its good to protect your skin. Make up wise obviously I’m really proud of my own make up range, I’m wearing the pink glosses every day, the big chunky eyeliners and I’m changing my nails most days to try different things – today I’ve got a goth manicure (black with red tips!). And I’m obsessed with lip glosses, I’ve always got at least 8 in my bag at any one time! -

My favourite products from the my Christmas collection is probably my foil nail wraps – we’ve done them in zebra print, leopard print, everything, I love that they are SO easy to put on yourself – I was worried they’d be too tricky to put on yourself but they are super easy and they dry instantly – and last for ages. They are brilliant and so durable.
The most I’ve ever spent on beauty treats is probably Dr Murad skincare, when I started buying the range it felt like quite a lot of money but so worth it. Chanel nail varnishes used to be something I would splash out on too, but now I have my own range I don’t really have to buy make up any more – sounds bad but its such a treat and I’m so proud of it. -

My beauty icons are Michelle Williams, she looks spectacular in the new Marilyn film. Uma Thurman has a beautiful angular face and always looks natural and gorgeous. All the old classics, in fact I recently did a shoot (for Very.co.uk) where I dressed up as Debbie harry which I loved, and I went for bold lips, cheeks, eyes, everything – it was so much fun. Twiggy, Katherine and Audrey Hepburn – all the classics who were setting beauty trends before other people were even thinking about it. Chrissie Hynde as well – it’s that whole ‘it looks like I haven’t made any effort but I probably have’ type of vibe.

I’m so involved in the design – I take in mood boards of what I want, everything , even the packaging, goes past me. I sit in the development room painting every colour all up my arm and my face testing everything out – the textures are all really important to me – I’m funny about lip gloss textures, I can’t bear them too gloopy or sticky, and nail colours – I’m so picky about the collection I think they probably get fed up with me! I’m so glad I’m doing the collection with Boots as they’re so experienced, they’ve been doing it for years. I’m over the moon about the collaboration!
For Christmas, I’d love books, smellies and a massive bed, so I can actually have some sleep! Mulled wine and good food and to see all my family as well - I’m always back at my parents’ place and Christmas eve is a huge thing at our house, we head to the pub and get drunk on Amaretto and then stagger back and then just chill out on Christmas day. I love it, it’s wicked… I can’t wait It’s my favourite day ever!
