AMINATA TURAY from London appeared in one of our fashion shoots in May 2011:

\"I almost didn’t believe it when I got the email to say I’d been shortlisted. The best part of the final was meeting all of the lovely girls that work at COMPANY including Oonagh, Emma and Laura from the Fashion team. Fashion really is what you make it and they encouraged me to try different looks. COMPANY’S Editor Victoria also gave me this advice: you can be whatever you want to be in life if you work hard and try your best. I’ll never forget i.\"

KIRSTY COLQUHUM from Edinburgh starred on our High Street Edit opener page in May 2011:

“I burst into tears when I told people I was in the final! I really wanted to show that someone who’s a size 16 can look good on the pages of a magazine. So I wore my favourite vintage 1950s dress with a faux fur coat, Primark heeled brogues, stockings, suspender belt and steel boned corset - which wasn’t a great idea because it set off the security alarms at Heathrow! I got a lot of confidence from the day – I was called a ‘burlesque princess’ and made to realise that everyone has something to offer and sometimes it’s good to stand out from the crowd. Bravo COMPANY for being brave enough to celebrate all body types and shapes.”

ANNA HEATLEY is a student from Newry and featured in our main beauty shoot in May 2011:

\r\n

\"I live in a very small village and think everyone there  knew about my trip to London for the COMPANY casting call! At 5ft 2in I’m pretty short so getting to the final  - let alone actually featuring in the magazine - proves you don’t have to be a 6ft tall to look good in a magazine. It’s about personality and individuality. I loved going shopping with the COMPANY fashion team – they taught me that accessories play a big part in creating your own style so I stocked up on loads with my River Island voucher.”

SARAH JONES from Cardiff featured in our main fashion story in May 2011:

\r\n

“So many people entered this year I was really surprised to get through. It made my year! For the final I decided to wear something that would show off my personality (camel and black Peter Pan collar playsuit, vintage watches as bracelets, wide brimmed 70s hat and leopard print coat) but had to finish my hair and makeup on the train because it was such an early start! I loved meeting all the other girls. It’s so worth entering and never doubt that you can get through – just look at what happened to me! All women have something unique and beautiful about them – you’ve just got the make the most of it!”

LISA CUNNINGHAM from Glasgow works for Rock Radio and featured in our beauty shoot in May 2011:

\r\n

\"Despite the fact that my style is quite \'alternative\' (I\'m a rock n\' roller at heart) I arrived at the final head to toe in River Island! I loved meeting all the other finalists – it was inspiring to meet girls who feel comfortable in their own skin. I’d tell anyone thinking of entering not to hesitate - you have to take chances in life. There’s so much pressure for us to stay in shape and look good that it’s easy to forget that we have to feel good about ourselves too.\"

HANNAH TRAYNOR from Liverpool  featured in our Bargain to Blowout shoot in May 2011:

\r\n

“It was great to see how varied the six winners were. We’re all different heights, weights, shapes and sizes which proves it wasn’t about having the right look – it was about having the right attitude. I decided to wear something I felt comfortable in to the final - a 70\'s inspired chiffon lilac blouse, black tights and black ballet pumps from Primark and my favourite pair of leather high-waisted shorts and chandelier earrings from River Island. It’s so inspiring to flick through a magazine and see real girls modelling the clothes.”
