Kate Bush is one of musics most influential women, with stars from Florence to Gaga owing her a massive debt.
She pirouetted into public consciousness in 1978, when, aged just 19, she released Wuthering Heights. Her tales of dashing heroes and ethereal heroines, sung in her trademark falsetto, marked Kate out as very different from the rest of the pop crowd.
Company editor Victoria White says, The fact she made this years BRIT Award nominations shows her enduring popularity.
Fash-wise, floaty dresses with chiffon batwing sleeves and skin-tight spandex leotards were her style staples. In the beauty stakes, she loved a red lip, while her wide-eyed expression was achieved with a rim of black liner around her eyes, lashings of mascara, and heavy grey and green eyeshadow.
Wildly backcombed or crimped hair topped off the look. Beauty editor Sophie Qureshi says, It was quite a boho look but with a rocky edge she had the personality to pull it off.
Kate released her latest album at the end of last year to rave reviews. Heres to the original queen of quirk!
