This week Im most excited about a little indie film by French filmmaker Vincent Moon called An Island. All about an 8 piece indie-rock outfit who get stuck on an island off the Danish coast with over 200 local musicians. This playful docu-music-mentary is beautifully shot check www.vincentmoon.com for release deets. Otherwise for something a bit more mainstream, my favourite film of last year The Runaways is out this week on DVD. Staring Kristin Steward as the original 70s rock chick Joan Jett in her early band days the film is full of feisty fashion and parties you wish youd been at. This film rocks! Check out the trailer below and if youd like to win a copy of the DVD click here. Read:
This book isnt new (it came out several years ago) but its one of my absolute faves. Things The Grandchildren Should Know by Mark Oliver Everett, the lead singer in Eels, tells the true story of his life as he survives the deaths of his entire family and still manages to make something worthwhile in the form of beautiful music. I defy anyone to read this and not weep - absolutely stunning. Play:
This was def my guilty pleasure of the week but Ive loved watching cartoon versions of Dappy, Fazer and Tulisa of N-Dubz dance around on my screen. The trio have created the world's first music video produced on a games console using one of my favourite PlayStation 3 games LittleBigPlanet2. If you dont know the game yet check it out, it revolves around you controlling a small character in a variety of social scenarios. Im an addict and love the video NDubz have created for forthcoming single Took It All Away its bloody funny. Check it out here.
