Company's Culture Club: Weekend guide

Each Friday, our Features Assistant Lena will bring you what's hot in the world of film, books and online - and gives you some ideas of what to get up to this weekend! Let her know what you've been clicking, watching and reading this week too...

Watch: I am soooo excited about this true Brit classic flick from Richard Ayoade, yep that’s the guy from 'The IT Crowd', and a soundtrack from Arctic Monkey Alex Turner. It’s a true coming-of-age tale about teen Oliver growing up in the 80s on the coast in Wales and a very awkward first romance with his first love Jordana (who wears the most amazing red duffle coat for the whole film). This film is not only perfectly quirky and cool but made me utterly nostalgic about growing up! Check out a clip here...

Read: What do you get when you cross politics and pop? Well, a cracking protest song. This week I read 33 Revolutions per Minute: A History of Protest Songs, By Dorian Lynskey (faber&faber, £17.99). It’ll take you through the works of Bob Dylan, Stevie Wonder, Fela Kuti, the Clash, and Rage Against the Machine. I learnt a lot, laughed and even cried. A really powerful read!

Make: Wanna know where all the cool folk will be this weekend? They’ll all be hanging at Somerset House for the second year of the contemporary graphic art fair. Featuring artists, collectives and galleries from all around the UK and world; exhibitors will be producing, exhibiting and selling their prints, books, zines, T-shirts and badges. I’m particularly excited about the live screen printing sessions from Print Club London.

Take a glance: It’s the fifth issue of It’s Nice That (the coolest design peeps, for the coolest peeps). This month’s mag includes interviews with Erwin Wurm, Matt Pyke, Isabella Rozendaal, Wilford Barrington and Rob Ryan, as well as various features and work pieces, is super-cool and uber-stylish! It’s now available to buy online at http://www.itsnicethat.com/ shop for £10.
