make money from your blog
Imran Amed, 28, from London, started\r\nediting fashion blog, The Business of Fashion\r\n( www.businessoffashion.com) in 2007. Its\r\nnow the go-to style guide for fashions most\r\ninfluential power players
\r\nDont focus on making a profit from your blog but do use\r\nit as a springboard from which to showcase your talents.\r\nIts great for opening yourself up to other money-making\r\nopportunities. When you look at the most successful fashion\r\nbloggers, their actual blog is just the beginning. Just look\r\nat the success of Susie Bubble (
http://stylebubble.typepad.\r\ncom), who nabbed a job at Dazed Digital when Jefferson\r\nHack discovered her blog. Or photographer Tommy Ton,\r\nwho is now shooting for Style.com. Then theres stylist\r\nScott Schuman, the man behind The Sartorialist (www.\r\nthesartorialist.blogspot.com) who now styles luxury\r\nadvertising campaigns and has published his own book.\r\n

fashion blogging
Gemma Cartwright, 26, from Worcestershire,\r\nmade money from her fashion blog, Catwalk\r\nQueen, when she sold it to Shiny Media in\r\n2005. She now writes lifestyle blogs ( www.gemmacartwright.com) for several websites
\r\nWhen I started Catwalk Queen, it was just a hobby because\r\nIve always loved fashion. I posted daily and, gradually,\r\nmy readership grew. I truly believe that people react to\r\npassion and dedication to the cause, which is why the\r\nmost profitable blogs are the ones that start from pure\r\nenjoyment. My advice would be to sell advertising space\r\nto small, well-targeted companies. Also, be open-minded\r\nto fun, brand partnerships, but be careful not to sell out,\r\nor youll be at risk of alienating your readers. Once youve\r\nbuilt up a successful blog, the most profitable thing you\r\ncan do is to sell it on, like I did! Blogging can also open\r\nnew doors in business. For me, it recently lead to a job\r\nblogging for the Evans website.\r\n

Rosie Birkett, 26, from London, is a freelance\r\njournalist and blogger. She launched restaurant\r\nreview and food blog, ( http://alotonherplate.\r\nwordpress.com) in 2008 and shes since\r\nwritten for The Guardian Word of Mouth site
\r\nHaving a blog is a brilliant way of maintaining an online\r\nprofile. Google picks up on blogs that frequently update\r\ntheir content, which in turn leads to other opportunities,\r\nboth in terms of advertising and writing, which could also\r\nincrease your profit. So its vital that you update your blog\r\nregularly. Ive had some interesting invites off the back\r\nof my blog, like a ticket to the final of The F Word. Its\r\nalso a great place to showcase published work, and I use\r\nit as an online portfolio. For anybody whos self-employed,\r\nI think having a blog is a professional necessity.\r\n

Photographer Shaniqwa Jarvis, 32, from\r\nNew York, launched her blog, http://\r\nchunkydoubledeuce.blogspot.com, in 2007, to\r\nshowcase her photography portfolio. She now\r\nphotographs for ID, Teen Vogue, and MTV
\r\nI first started my blog as a way to keep my family and\r\nfriends updated on what I was up to, while living between\r\nLos Angeles and New York. But as a photographer, by\r\nshowcasing your work in a very beautiful and creative\r\nway, you can attract more work. Ive been booked for\r\njobs all over the world via my blog, because potential\r\nclients can get a real sense of my style, just by logging\r\non and looking through my collection. Id advise anybody\r\nwho is kick-starting a business to get a blog. Its your\r\nown personal advertisement.

Former showbiz columnist Zoe Griffin, 27, lives\r\nin London and quit her job at The Sunday Mirror\r\na year ago to launch her celebrity gossip blog\r\n( www.zoegriffin.co.uk). She now shares gossip\r\nwith over 100,000 online visitors every month
\r\nThe only way to get more hits is to provide something\r\nthat nobody else does. You want to be the best site in your\r\nfield, so offer a service that goes above and beyond. The\r\nfact that I can tell advertisers that my blog attracts 100,000\r\nhits per month, means theyre more willing to pay for\r\nspace on my website. Another way that I make money is\r\nvia my collaboration with Living TV, who commission me\r\nto blog for their website, too. Gossip is a competitive game\r\nand in order to get more hits, I need to get the most\r\nexclusive news, and fast, in order to keep advertising\r\nrevenues up. Its worth signing up to Google AdSense,\r\na free program, which allows you to search for advertisers\r\nwho are relevant to your audience and earn money from\r\nthem. Then think about what subjects you mostly write\r\nabout and contact the relevant marketing managers for\r\nspecific brands. Build relations, by offering them a free\r\nmonthly trial just enough time for them to see an\r\nincrease in hits to their website, via yours. Then theyll\r\nstart paying for your service.\r\n
