I would like you to take action to protect young women when using sunbeds in salons.
Julie Morgan MP has introduced a Bill to give children greater protection from sunbeds and also to get all sunbed salons manned so that young women, like me, can get the proper advice when using them. This legislation is much needed because
- At least one twenty-something woman is diagnosed with melanoma every day.
- Melanoma is the most common cancer in 15-34 years olds.
- In young women aged 20-29, there are almost twice as many melanoma cases as breast cancer, despite melanoma being a lot easier to avoid.
- Using sunbeds under the age of 35 increases a person's risk of skin cancer by up to 75%.
And experts think that sunbeds are now as dangerous as cigarettes - there is clear evidence that sunbed use increases the risk of developing skin cancer.I would like you to attend the next debate on Friday 12th March and vote in favour of this legislation.
