Glasgow will host the 2009 MOBO Awards at the SECC on 30 September - the first time in the event's 14-year history that it will be held outside London. Nominees include Alesha Dixon, JLS, Alexandra Burke, Lemar, Lady Gaga, Beyonce.

Visit mobo.com for more details and exclusive MOBO content.

Where should you head to if you dont have a VIP pass for the MOBOS? Check out below for cool bars, gigs and places to eat!!

Glasgow has one of the most varied and vibrant music scenes in the world, producing famous names such as Travis, Franz Ferdinand, Amy Macdonald, Glasvegas, and The Fratellis, to name but a few..

After arriving at the gorgeous Saint Judes hotel, situated in the heart of Glasgow. We headed to the VIP Launch Party of Trongate 103, the city's exciting new arts space - which is housed over 6 incredible floors!

Then onto legendary venue King Tuts Wah Wah Hut (where Oasis were famously discovered), followed by hot London folk band Mumford & Sons' gig who are tipped to be the new big thing!

Make sure you also visit iconic club venue The Arches, a favourite of top DJ's including Carl Cox, Judge Jules, Pete Tong and David Guetta! There are also a huge selection of bars and clubs that you can end your evening dancing on tables! Try Hummingbird, Kushion or Tron Bar!

During the day, make sure you head to Che Camille for all style of one of designs, made to measure clothing and jewellery.

Sloans Market offers an eclectic mix of quality craft, art, fashion and produce from Scotland's most exciting talent and charismatic individuals. Over 200 independent retailers have flocked to participate in the Sloans Market, who will rotate on a regular basis, giving new stallholders the chance to showcase their work and offering the public a bigger selection of Scotland's best available produce.

Other recent additions to the city's shopping scene include Scottish lingerie chain, Boudiche; urban clothing brand, G: Star Raw; interior store Goodd and Jodie's Jewellery Boutique which stocks cult brands Dogeared, and Paris-based Les Neveides.

You can also dine in style while in Glasgow, head to Two Fat Ladies based in the city centre - which serves primarily seafood based and everything is cooked so perfectly and with such simple style that it should tempt even the most determined hater of seafood, but there are always delicious meaty alternatives for those who refuse to be converted - which I am!!! I tucked into a gorgeous Teriyaki marinated breast of chicken with stir fried greens!

For brunch before the journey home, head to Velvet Elvis where I can recommend the chargrilled burger and hand cut chips.

Did you know - Glasgow's place in the international music hall of fame was marked last year by its appointment as a UNESCO City Of Music.
